She said, “Bangladesh has been a top priority country for us. In recent years, Bangladesh has been on a robust growth path. With a large middle-income group, the country represents a huge opportunity for beauty and wellness brands like VLCC to further expand its presence to reach a much larger customer base. Especially when it comes to making the people of Bangladesh more healthy, and training the youth in the lucrative domain of beauty and grooming services, VLCC sees itself.”

She further added, “At VLCC, our focus has always been on service delivery and as a reinstatement of the same, we have recently launched a money back assurance scheme for our customers. In addition, to make digital payments accessible for a wide section of our customers, we have in place a several modes of digital payment gateways and mobile wallets with EMI options. All of these measures are aimed at making the VLCC customer more empowered than ever before.

A report said, nearly one in five married women in Bangladesh are overweight and the prevalence is much higher in urban areas than in rural villages[1]. Obesity is also closely linked with diabetes and at present, one in every 11 persons or 8.3 per cent of the adult population is diabetic putting Bangladesh at the 5th position in global ranking[2].

A high body mass index and ‘hidden’ visceral fat causes underlying medical conditions such as Hypertension, Hypothyroid, PCOS, Diabetes, Arthritis and even some types of cancers. Obesity is greater in urban areas, and women are more affected than men. Not just that, obesity among children and adolescents too is rising rapidly. Last month, VLCC celebrated 15 years of its Anti-Obesity day with the ‘Stand-up campaign’ – a public awareness initiative that encourages people to be more active in their daily lives through the simple act of standing up. VLCC’s Anti-Obesity campaign has evolved into a larger movement, which has gained momentum as a public health campaign.
